Advance Wars (not Advanced Wars!), the original handheld game by Intelligent Systems released on September 11th 2001, was the first taste of Nintendo Wars for the rest of the world outside Japan. Mixing easy to pick-up gameplay with cute visuals and a well-executed concept, Advance Wars would be one of the best releases for the handheld console for a long time, as well as the start of the modern game series we all know and love!
