AWDS Hard Campaign Guide - Mission 12: Lightning Strikes!

Difficulty: Moderate.

Objective: Get the centre factory or at the very least the North Westernmost Airport. Assist the Second front by sending at least two Anti-Aircraft units there.

Suggested Main COs: Sonja, Von Bolt, Sami, Hawke, Lash. (Grimm for a massacre...)

Support COs: Kanbei, Von Bolt, Jess, Max, Eagle.

Suggested skills for Main CO: Gold Rush, Fire Sale, Slam Guard, Slam Shield.

Suggested skills for Support CO: Forest Walk, Slam Guard, Slam Shield, anything else.

General Strategy

You can’t really afford to lose the second front for a perfect score because a tag is exactly what you need to take on Grimm. Not only that, Grimm is hard enough to handle pre-deployed like that let alone having 150/100 Battle Helicopters screaming at you or even 190/110 when Sensei Tags with Grimm.

For this reason alone, take control of the second front and have at least two Anti-Aircrafts sent to help out.

Grimm though... You’ll have to be incredibly defencive initially. 130/80 units are deadly even to Kanbei. Your best bet is to mass produce Mechanical Infantry to deal with the constant flow of Grimm’s foot soldiers and then slowly make you way to the top of the map while getting past the Tank, Reconnaissance, Mid Tank and Artillery. How? You’ll need Tanks but no one, even Colin can produce them so quickly. More reason why you need the help of your partner ASAP.

In-Depth Guide

On the second front, move your Missiles to the Woods South West of your Head Quarters. Cover it with the Sent Anti-Aircraft and all your other units. Bunch your Mechanised Infantry closer to your Head Quarters so when they’re attacked, you can combine them.

Back to the main front, stalling isn’t really an option. Grimm is all about the first strike and letting him have it everytime is playing straight into his field. You’ll have to go on the offencive which means you have to get sneaky. Infantry deals wonders against Grimm so choose someone with Excellent Infantry. For this reason, don’t ignore Flak or Jugger because Grimm’s reduced defence will sort of make these two lads into a virtual Nell.

Prioritise Silos first then properties. Grimm at 7HP is easier to deal with afterall. Aim for capturing Infantry o the Airport to delay it by one day. Then go for the bigger units.

Further Intelligence

Choose Colin and Sasha. Colin for the main front and Sasha for the second under your command. As long as Sasha’s Air destroying units are at 9HP or higher, she can still destroy Battle Helicopters or render them useless anyway.

With Colin on the main front you can alternate between an Infantry and a Tank on the Western factory whilst making a Mechanised Infantry on the Eastern factory.

To take care of the Northern Tank, have it attack the Mechanised Infantry by moving it North of the Artillery and let the Infantry cover the West side of the Mechanised Infantry. One shot from the Artillery should deal quite a decent amount of damage.

If All Else Fails

Colin on bottom, Kanbei on top. (No innuendo please.) Kanbei will mop up Sensei even with only Two Anti-Aircraft units. As long as you don’t move your Anti-Aircraft units within range of his Mechanised Infantry, you’ll have no trouble with it. Remember, the second front counts for nothing towards the Technique score. Units you destroy however, are somehow counted in.

My Score: 12 days, 300 points.
