AWDS Hard Campaign Guide - Mission 15: Verdant Hills

Difficulty: Moderate, or Hard for a perfect 300 points.

Objective: Capture the enemy Headquarters or rout the enemy. Capturing the two Communication Towers Javier has in control is vital before they are allowed to Tag.

Suggested Main COs: Sasha (Blue Moon), Sonja (Orange Star).

Support COs: Colin (Blue Moon), Kanbei (Orange Star).

Suggested skills for Main CO: Eagle Eye, Scout, Pathfinder, Sniper (Blue Moon) Slam Shield (Orange Star).

Suggested skills for Support CO: All three tag bonuses, Eagle Eye.

General Strategy

This is tough because Javier poses a great threat when he has Communication Towers available to him. Not only that, he has seemingly invincible and POWERFUL units already pre-deployed. At 120/120 for units being directly hit and 120/140 for units hit by indirect attacks.

It's not a good idea to shoot everything in sight on the first day. You should selectively destroy some units whilst peppering away at others. It takes an enormous amount of guile to position the indirects well so that the approaching foot soldiers and the all-seeing Reconnaissance units are taken out, yet kept out of danger. If that makes any sense.

In-Depth Guide

My recommendation is to stay away from all the indirect units you can for the first two or three turns. This way, it is very possible to assault many of Jess's units when she is the Main attacking CO. Make sure to snatch those Communication Towers before Javier and Jess are close to their Tag.

You can use Sasha to keep them at bay for as long as possible so that you can get your indirects can get into good positions around the mountain range.

Lastly, look out for the sneaky Infantry hobbling over towers in the direction of your properties/Headquarters. It takes a little luck in order to get the guarding units to pry away from their indirects and/or heavy tanks. Megatanks should be dealt by indirect units bumping into it. You should remain aware that for the perfect score, you will most likely want Blue Moon to finish off the Mission even though Orange Star will have the great advantage of having aerial units. However, it is only just possible to get to that Airport and deploy a Fighter Jet to block off the narrow gap. With no Missiles, you can prioritise on damaging or destroying the Anti-Aircraft units then take your time destroying the other units with your indirects.

My Score: 300 point, 12 Days.
