AWDS Hard Campaign Guide - Mission 9: Victory or Death!

Difficulty: Moderate.

Objective: Destroy the Black Crystal.

Suggested Main COs: Kanbei, Von Bolt.

Support COs: Max, Eagle, Hawke, (Kanbei/Von Bolt)

General Strategy

At first glance, this seems like a really hard mission from the Sand Storm and the sheer amount of units you face but with the right tricks, you can beat this quite easily. First thing you should note is that the secondary front is rigged. Nine times out of ten tries, your AI companion will ALWAYS put all of your Fighter Jets within attacking range of Lash’s Fighter Jets, even on defencive. Knowing this, don’t send any extra units to the top screen until you don’t need them on the main front.

Until Zak/Koal’s Fighter has been taken out, use your Tank to take out the North Anti-Air, then use your Bombers for the Md Tank. Once the main array of units are taken out, send all available air units to the top screen to assist your partner. Once your partner finishes up Lash’s units, Tag your way towards the Crystal and blow it to smithereens.

In-Depth Guide

Taking out the lone Anti-Air without provoking the Md. Tank is tough. You’ll have to cleverly cover the Tank with a Helicopter and a Fighter Jet. Provoke Zak’s/Koal’s Fighter Jet with one of your own and finish it off the next turn by ganging up on it or use your Anti-Aircraft.

Make sure you don’t let the slow moving Mechanised Infantry capture the middle base. Sacrifice a Bomber if you have to but hit it from the West so you don’t get bombarded by anyone of the enemy’s Anti-Aircraft units and Missiles. Send it to the second front when all of Lash’s Fighter Jets are down.
