Hachi - Old Man Merchant

Hachi Normal

Hachi is average with all units. So far, so Andy. But what's this? He is cheap enough to buy Kanbei's palace with a day's wages?

Day To Day Abilities

  • 90% unit cost

COP - Barter **

  • 50% unit cost
  • 110% attack/defence

Hachi wheels and deals with his suppliers to haggle a 50% slash in price (Vs. the standard price) on all units for one day only! Buy now, and receive a 110% attack and defence on all units as well!

SCOP - Merchant Union --***

  • 50% unit cost
  • Ability to deploy from allied cities
  • 110% attack/defence

Hachi utilises the bane of all heartless capitalists - the trade union - to get 50% off the normal price of all units, and also to force the office workers of all his cities into labouring in the factories, allowing deployment of ground units from them! 110% defence and attack on all units also arise from laughing at men in suits and children clumsily piecing together tanks.

Notes & Tactics

Hachi

Hachi looks pretty boring at first glance, but then incredibly cheap once you examine him in detail. When using him, you effectively play a tactical mixture of Andy and Colin, building expensive units earlier than your opponents, but also matching them in overall power. In normal terms this makes him moderately good against anyone, but his true strength lies in his CO powers. His normal power gives you two for the price of one, meaning if you've saved enough you can buy two Neotanks instead of one, and so on so forth. This alone is handy in a fix, but his Super Power is where it's at. The ability to deploy from allied cities breaks the limits of how maps were designed by giving you many more points of construction in more generously placed locations, and you can make use of them with a 1/2 price discount! This also works in predeployed though, so if you use Hachi in predeployed multiplayer situations you will earn yourself a well-deserved slap. In fact, if you use Hachi at all against a human, you may as well just poke them in the eye and snap their DS in half, that's how mean you are.
